After downplaying the virus’ severity, the singer contracted it herself.

After months of mocking people who took the coronavirus seriously, Doja Cat revealed that she tested positive. The “Say So” singer revealed in a July 24 interview with Capital XTRA that she recently contracted the virus and experienced noticeable symptoms.

“I got COVID. Honestly, I don’t know how this happens but I guess I ordered something off of Postmates and I don’t know how I got it but I got it,” she explained. “I’m okay now. It was a four-day symptom freakout but I’m fine now.”

Though she did not say exactly when she fell ill, she did add that she has since recovered from the disease.

The situation comes as ironic because the singer, born Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini, previously said wasn’t “scared” of living in a pandemic world.

“…I don’t give a f*** about corona.”

In early March when the coronavirus began spreading across the world, Doja Cat went live on Instagram to mock what she perceived as unnecessary hysteria. She went as far as to say that “I’m gonna get corona and then I’m gonna get a Corona.”

Doja Cat later seemed to change her tune when she had to cancel her scheduled tour due to the risk associated with COVID-19 and told her fans “Stay healthy out there.”
