This is in fact what dreams are made of
For a series that only lasted three years, the life lessons, memories, and memes that came from its two-season reign were enough to last a lifetime. Or so we thought. The 2000’s kids can rejoice in the knowledge that the famed Lizzie McGuire series is coming back, and the incomparable Hillary Duff will be our level-headed, slightly awkward, popstar queen once again.
No more outfit repeating for her this time around, though. At the D23 Expo this past weekend, Duff took the stage to break the news to fans. She disclosed that the series will show Lizzie as an almost thirty-year-old, navigating her picturesque life in New York City. She’s working a dream job with a top decorator, dating a SoHo restaurant owner. But she’s still got some things to figure out, and the series will follow alongside her during this period of her life.
And her signature sidekick will be coming along with her. The sassy Lizzie avatar is set to continue the side commentary and will reportedly still be dressed in the same blue jeans and hot pink top that she wore during the original airing from 2001-2004.
Has her junior high romance blossomed to a lifetime of love? Or did she ditch Gordo for Pablo after her popstar moment in Rome? Only time can tell, but we cannot wait to stream this new series on Disney+.
