Miles Teller is ready to take flight again—if given enough time to prepare. The Top Gun: Maverick star recently revealed that he has one major request for his co-star and Hollywood icon Tom Cruise should a third Top Gun movie become a reality.
Speaking on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Teller humorously shared, “I just told Tom, ‘Give me enough time, heads up for me to get in shape—one month per ab. I need six months’ heads up.'” Given the franchise’s history of shirtless, sun-soaked training sequences, it’s clear Teller wants to be in peak form if Rooster returns to the skies.
Will There Be a Top Gun 3?
While fans are eagerly hoping for another high-flying adventure, Teller admitted he has no inside scoop on whether a third film is officially happening. “You might be shocked, but I do not greenlight that thing,” he joked. However, he acknowledged the strong excitement from both fans and the creative team, adding, “There’s a lot of enthusiasm… So we’ll see.”
Teller’s co-star Glen Powell (who played Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick) previously teased in an interview that he has a potential date for the sequel but declined to share further details.
Top Gun: Maverick’s Massive Success
Released in May 2022, Top Gun: Maverick became a global box office sensation, raking in a staggering $1.48 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing film of the year. The blockbuster delivered nostalgia-fueled action, thrilling aerial sequences, and a return to the iconic “Danger Zone.”
With the sequel’s massive success, the demand for another chapter is undeniable. And if Cruise makes the call, Teller is ready—just as long as he gets those six months to hit the gym.
For now, Teller is set to star in The Gorge, a sci-fi horror film premiering February 14 on Apple TV+, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Sigourney Weaver. But as Top Gun fans know, the sky is never the limit—so stay tuned for more potential high-altitude action!
