As one of the most popular and beloved video-game franchises, it wouldn’t be surprising if ‘The Legend of Zelda’ got a series.

The Legend of Zelda is arguably one of the most popular video game franchises developed by Nintendo; it has been over three decades since the release of the first game on the NES. Over the years it has spawned 19 titled across many different generations of consoles, and it has been three decades since the release of the original animated series.

Recently, rumor has it that Netflix has picked up the franchise to create a series. As many long-time fans will know, the story of every Zelda game is separate, but each follows similar recurring themes.

Partnering with Nintendo, Netflix will develop the first season of the series to follow the events of the Nintendo 64 Zelda games, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask.

It is believed that there will be a total of three seasons for the upcoming animated series. The second season will supposedly focus on A Link to the Past, Link’s Awakening, and A Link Between Worlds. The third season would cover The Wind Waker, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks.
