It’s official this time!

Universal Orlando’s next major theme park, Epic Universe, will be home to the new Super Nintendo World!

The newest theme park is slated to open in 2023. Philadelphia-based cable giant Comcast Corp. executives confirmed during their 2019 earnings meeting on Jan. 23 that Nintendo World will be the first themed land to open up at the park.

Super Nintendo World will be part of the “fourth gate” in Orlando. Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay water park are the first three local theme parks, otherwise known as gates.

According to Comcast executives, Harry Potter already brings in an “incremental attendance of 2 million people,” and based on research, Nintendo is the next “biggest potential driver in attendance.”

The new themed land will bring to life the world of Nintendo. Characters such as Mario, Princess Peach, Yoshi and more will make an appearance, and it was revealed that the land will be built across many of Universal’s theme parks.

Universal Studios Japan will be the first to debut their Super Nintendo World, which seems fitting as Japan is home to Nintendo. Universal Studios Hollywood is second in line to build the land, followed by Universal Studios Orlando.
