Sydney Sweeney Being an Icon

Sydney Sweeney, the talented actress known for her roles in “Euphoria” and the romantic comedy “Anyone but You,” made her hosting debut on “Saturday Night Live” a memorable one. Amid the sketch comedy and music performances, she used her time on stage to address and dispel recent rumors swirling around her romantic life directly.

A particular narrative about a supposed affair with “Anyone but You” co-star Glen Powell gained traction online, which Sydney categorically debunked during her monologue. “That’s obviously not true,” she stated. “My fiancé and I produced the movie together, and he was there the entire shoot.”

For Sydney, the “man of her dreams” is her long-term partner and co-producer, businessman Jonathan Davino. She continued, “I just want to let everyone know that he’s the man of my dreams, and we’re still together and stronger than ever. He even came here tonight to support me. Can we cut to him?”

Amid cheers from the audience, the camera panned to the crowd but landed on none other than Glen Powell, adding a humorous twist to the situation. Sydney swiftly clarified, “No, that’s not my fiancé. He’s in my dressing room,” much to the amusement of the studio audience.

The humorous exchange didn’t end there. During the “Loud Table” sketch, which featured Sweeney and cast member Andrew Dismukes as a couple enduring numerous interruptions during a dinner date, she added another layer of humor to the ongoing romance rumors. Sweeney’s character revealed she’d been cheating on her on-screen partner with her boss. In perfect timing, Glen Powell made an appearance on stage, smoothly whisking her away with the line, “Hey, babycakes. Wanna get out of here?” leaving Dismukes’ character alone at the table.

Last year, Sweeney and Powell captivated fans with their on-screen chemistry in “Anyone but You,” an updated take on Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” Even during filming, the two attracted attention due to their close proximity, although both were already in relationships. The actress reflected on the situation during a conversation with Glamour in 2023, expressing her sadness for how it affected Powell, although she cherished their on-set experience.

Sweeney also acknowledged that her private life is generally off-limits, noting, “I think it’s important to have something for me. I’m very open [otherwise]. I talk about so much and sometimes it gets me in trouble, but I do try to keep something for me.”

This SNL appearance served as a platform for Sydney Sweeney to set the record straight and assure fans that while she and Powell share an on-screen chemistry, the only romance she’s committed to is with her real-life partner Jonathan Davino.
