If you still do not have any plans for New Year’s and you live in Florida, why not take a trip to Tampa?

Earlier this week it was announced tat the city of Tampa would be throwing a party for the first time with Gasparilla flair. Said to be the city’s “largest countdown to midnight,” there will a “booty drop,” since the party will be pirate-themed.

The New Yarrgh’s Eve Booty Drop will be “an interactive experience here at Curtis Hixon Park where we will be dropping—via digital mapping on the Sykes Tower—a pirate booty,” said Ashly Anderson, the director of marketing and design at the Tampa Downtown Partnership. The booty-drop will be a 3D mapped projection of a treasure chest.

Leading up to the main event, guests can entertain themselves by exploring The Winter Village, which will still be open. They can even walk to check out celebrations planned at Sparkman Wharf and Armature Works. There will also be live musical entertainment and food and drink available for purchase.

The Tampa New Year’s Eve celebration is free to attend and family-friendly. Festivities will begin at 9 p.m. and run until 12:30 a.m. Get ready to ring in the New Yarrgh!
