This is a reminder that anything is possible when you put your heart into it!
Clayton Ward’s family has been driving school buses for generations, and even though young Ward tried to avoid the job of his parents and grandfather, he found himself driving school buses just the same.
But Ward enjoyed his time as a school bus driver, sharing his love for history with the children he drove every day. The younger children in return would tell Ward about their day in class while the older kids, who knew Ward liked history, would engage in conversation about particular historical events. Because of his knowledge and passion for the subject, many school children said that Ward should be a teacher, and some even told him that they wanted Ward to be their very own teacher.
Graduation shout out to Clayton Ward who is headed to Framingham State to study History. Clayton worked full-time, driving the school bus while attending classes full-time at MassBay. His inspiration were the kids he drove. Congrats! #MassBayGrad2020🎓https://t.co/bMc03Vt47z pic.twitter.com/mOoLKBlGom

The children’s conversations encouraged Ward to get back in the classroom and work towards his dream of becoming a high school history teacher. Ward enrolled in Massachusetts’s MassBay Community College in 2019. During the day, he would drive his bus routes, while at night he attended his classes. After obtaining is associate’s degree in just one year, Ward will head to Framingham State University in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in secondary education.
