3,000 people are going to have one sweet Thanksgiving.

People really love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Like, I don’t think I can overstate just how much people love those things, and I’m certainly no exception. Give me an entire bag of the things, come back in a week, and all that will be left are laments of bad life decisions. But ask yourself this: do you love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups enough to eat a gigantic, 9-inch long one? Don’t bother answering, because they’re already sold out.

Yesterday, Hershey unveiled a special promotion for the Thanksgiving season: a Reese’s “pie,” which in actuality is just an oversized Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, measuring 9 inches long and weighing 3.25 pounds of pure chocolate and peanut butter.

“When you bring together friends and family for Thanksgiving dinner, no table spread is complete without dessert,” said Bo Jones, senior associate brand manager at Reese’s in a Hershey press release Monday. “At Reese’s, we wanted to create a dessert that everyone wants a piece of.”

Only 3,000 of these gargantuan treats were produced, each selling for $44.99 a pop (plus tax). Mere hours after Hershey made their announcement and took the store page live, the pies were completely sold out, all 3,000 purchased and accounted for.

“Looks like Reese’s fans were really thankful for the new Reese’s pie this year as it is now sold out,” reads the official Reese’s Facebook. The post then encouraged those who missed out on the pies to try their hand at making their own, linking ideas for recipes using Reese’s peanut butter.
