Courtney Cox Performs Infamous Turkey Head Dance

The symbol of Thanksgiving graces us once again.

In one of many, many iconic moments from the hit sitcom Friends, Monica, played by Courtney Cox, comes to see Chandler in his apartment to cheer him up after accidentally severing his toe. It makes sense in context. Anyway, her performance of choice is to place a large, uncooked turkey on her head, dress it up with a hat and oversized novelty sunglasses, and do a little dance. This silly little moment has long since been immortalized in GIF form, the sight of which has become common during Thanksgiving. Courtney Cox herself has apparently seen the image so much, she’s gotten tired of it, though not so tired she isn’t willing to give the little dance an encore.

On Thanksgiving yesterday, Cox posted on her Instagram to talk about how thankful she was for her life and her fans, while also dropping in a bit of disgruntlement.

“Happy Thanksgiving, everyone. I hope you’re having a great day. I’m feeling so thankful,” she said, before getting close to the camera and adding if she gets one more GIF of herself “with a turkey on my head dancing like a f—— fool, I’m just gonna snap.”

After that little moment of intensity, Cox then said “So anyhow, since I’m the symbol of Thanksgiving, here you go, hope it makes you happy.”

She then performed a quick rendition of the turkey dance, uncooked turkey and sunglasses included (though not the little hat, unfortunately), backed by the Friends theme song and a “Happy Thanksgiving” banner.

It’s nice to see Cox in good spirits and health, especially since the Friends reunion special that was supposed to release this year on HBO Max has been delayed to 2021. It is definitely still being produced, though, so with any luck, one of Cox’s co-stars will take the opportunity to bug her about her turkey head one more time.
