Someone once explained to me that the difference between simple snacks and fancy desserts is that you can pound an entire bag of chips without tasting anything, while a fancy dessert requires some extra consideration on your part. Fancy desserts are meant to be eaten, yes, but they’re also meant to be savored, to be experienced. They’re full of rich flavors that deserve to be sample individually, rather than unceremoniously shoved down your trash hole.
