HBO Working On New Docuseries About NXIVM Sex Trafficking Ring

HBO will uncover secrets behind NXIVM

‘Smallville’ actress Allison Mack is headed back to the small screen, but not how she probably expected. The Wrap reports that HBO Documentary Films has already started production on a new docuseries that will focus on the NXIVM, a self-help group accused of sex trafficking.

Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer will co-direct the series which follows a variety of people who joined the group and will “take a deep, nuanced look at experiences of its members, spotlighting their universal desire for personal growth.”

The group gained public attention last year when many of its members, including founder Keith Raniere and Mack, were charged with sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. Just last week, the disgraced starlet pleaded guilty in a New York courtroom for her involvement in sex trafficking. Facing a maximum of 40 years in prison Mack is accused of recruiting and manipulating young women into branding their bodies and becoming sex slaves for Raniere.

Noujaim, herself, attended NXIVM’s introductory “Executive Success Program” workshop and it is what caused her to become so interested in the company. With her partner Amer, HBO says that the two will “reveal the issues behind the headlines and explore the emotional toll of unfolding events on these individuals.”
