Hart and two others were involved in a dangerous crash over Labor Day Weekend
The 40-year-old comedian and actor Kevin Hart is recovering after a potentially fatal car accident that occurred Sunday morning. Hart was in the passenger seat of his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda when the driver, Jared S. Black, lost control on a turn and tumbled into a ditch below. Accompanying Hart and Black was Black’s finace, Rebecca Broxterman. Broxterman and Black were trapped in the vehicle, while Hart was escorted home and then later to the hospital.
Broxterman was removed with only complaints of minor pain, while Hart and Black were brought for further assessment, as they each sustained major back injuries. The California Highway Patrol reported that Black was not under the influence at the time of the incident.
Black and Hart are being treated for their injuries and are both expected to make a full recovery, though due to the nature of the injuries, their recoveries may take time. A source interviewed by ET confirmed that Hart had fractured his spine in three separate locations, and has been heavily sedated since his surgeries to alleviate the pain.
Hart’s wife Eniko Parrish reported to TMZ that “he’s going to be just fine. He’s good, everybody’s good, thank God.”
