Which Vocaloid Are You?

The World is Yours.

With the recent announcement that Hatsune Miku would be appearing at this year’s Coachella, I really have to marvel at the astounding popularity of all of the Vocaloid mascots. It’s so unusual if you think about it; Miku isn’t a real person, just an animated character singing computer-generated lyrics. And yet, seemingly through sheer star power, Miku and her friends have attained real staying power in the music biz. They are what I like to call “memetic entities;” as long as people acknowledge the existence of Vocaloids and their music, they will continue to exist. That’s pretty crazy, huh?

Putting the psychology aside, though, I love me some Vocaloid tunes, not just for the cute characters (though that helps), but for the variety of genres and voice styles they cover. Arenas will sell out just so people can see a hologram of their favorite character performing their favorite song. The Vocaloids don’t even have established personalities, but as with their careers, they’ve attained personalities through the collective cognition of the public.

Shoot, getting into psychology again. Okay, cutting to the chase: answer some questions for us, and we’ll tell you which Vocaloid sings the song of your heart.
