Amazon has ordered series runs set in the expanded Spider-Man universe.

As Sony pictures assumes more direct control of the Spider-Man setting from Disney and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they’ve been planning more and more new films using the expanded universe. Existing examples of this include the Venom films and Morbius, but with their latest deal, Sony will be making use of even more Spider-Man characters for a series of spin-offs.

Sony has cut a deal with Amazon and MGM to produce a currently-unknown number of spin-off television series set in the expanded Spider-Man universe. These new series will air on television on MGM+ and stream digitally on Amazon Prime Video. The precise scope of these spin-offs has not yet been divulged, but we do know the first series that Sony has planned: Silk: Spider Society.

An expanded-universe Spider-Man comic book character developed in 2014, Cindy Moon is a Korean American teenager who develops spider-like abilities after being bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter Parker his abilities as Spider-Man, adopting the alias of Silk. The new series is being developed by The Walking Dead showrunner Angela Kang, alongside Amy Pascal and the producers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Phil Lord and Chris Miller. According to Lord and Miller, this new series will focus on Cindy Moon as she “escapes imprisonment and searches for her missing family on her way to becoming the superhero known as Silk.”

No word yet on when this series could be ready for release.
