Taiwanese-Canadian model and actor Godfrey Gao has died, his agency stated Wednesday. He was 35.
His agency, JetStar Entertainment, confirmed his death on its official Facebook page.
While filming a Chinese reality TV show, Gao collapsed. JetStar Entertainment said in a statement that the actor was rushed to the hospital where he died three hours later.
“We are shocked and saddened” by the incident, JetStar said. The company further thanked “friends in the media and everyone who supported Godfrey” for their thoughts.
Gao was filming for “Chase Me” – which pits celebrities against regular contestants in a variety of physical challenges. According to reports, Gao fell down suddenly while running, and although medical staff tried to treat him on the spot, in the end he had to be rushed to hospital for treatment.
Gao was born in Taiwan and became famous in Greater China as the first Asian man to model for Louis Vuitton. He starred alongside Lena Headey and Lily Collins in the 2013 film “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.”
The Chinese model-actor went on to appear in a number of Chinese-language TV shows as well as the 2019 sci-fi epic “Shanghai Fortress.”
His body will be transported back to Taiwan.
