Aniston Holding Back Tears Over Friends 30th Anniversary

Jennifer Aniston shared an emotional moment reflecting on the 30th anniversary of the iconic sitcom “Friends” during a conversation with Quinta Brunson for Variety’s Actors on Actors series. The “Morning Show” star became teary-eyed as she reminisced about the show that launched her career and left an indelible mark on television history.

Prompted by a producer, Brunson asked Aniston what it’s like to watch “Friends” in 2024. “Oh God, don’t make me cry,” Aniston responded, fighting back tears. Brunson, showing empathy, offered to change the topic, but Aniston reassured her, saying, “No, no. Sorry. I just started thinking about…Yeah, no. I’m okay. It’s a happy tear.”

Aniston then spoke about the surreal experience of “Friends” turning 30. “It’s so strange to even think that it’s 30 years old, because I remember the day that it was going to premiere on television, on NBC,” she said. She fondly recalled a memory of herself and co-star Matthew Perry surprising Lisa Kudrow at a hair salon on the day of the premiere. “It definitely flew out of control, and that was unfortunate. But the excitement we had, it feels like yesterday.”

Reflecting on the lasting impact of “Friends,” Aniston expressed deep gratitude. “The fact that it’s had this long, wonderful life and it still means a lot to people is one of the greatest gifts I think all five of us — all six of us — we never could imagine,” she shared. Aniston also revealed that she maintains close relationships with her co-stars, mentioning a recent FaceTime call with Courteney Cox and conversations with Lisa Kudrow and the “boys” (David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc). “It’s a family forever,” she added.

Jennifer Aniston’s heartfelt words capture the enduring legacy of “Friends” and its significance to fans and cast members alike. As the beloved sitcom celebrates three decades of laughter and friendship, it continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many around the world.
