Lil Tay’s Resurgence: From Viral Death Hoax to New Music Release
Lil Tay, the 14-year-old rapper also known as Tay Tian, is back in the limelight after a viral death hoax shook the internet in August. The young artist, famous for her viral social media presence, has returned with a new single and music video titled “Sucker 4 Green.”
Rumors of Lil Tay’s alleged passing began on August 9 when a post on her verified Instagram account falsely claimed her death, along with her brother’s. The family has since clarified that her Instagram account “was compromised by a 3rd party and used to spread jarring misinformation and rumors.”
Lil Tay confirmed her account had been hacked and marked her return with “Sucker 4 Green.” She also conducted an Instagram live broadcast to address controversies surrounding her online persona.
In a candid move, Lil Tay revealed her strained relationship with her father, Christopher Hope, accusing him of abuse and neglect. She believes her father may have orchestrated the death hoax to hinder her career.
Lil Tay’s resurgence follows her rise as a 9-year-old social media influencer and subsequent custody battle between her parents. Her Instagram was wiped clean in June 2018, and a cryptic “help me” message appeared on her story.
Lil Tay’s return is a significant moment in her career as she reengages with her fan base and the music industry.
