The MCU is receiving a more intense hero in March.

Moon Knight is one of Marvel’s lesser-used characters, a vigilante empowered by the spirit of the Egyptian god of the moon, Khonsu. Moon Knight is a much more intense character, operating primarily at night and pummeling criminals with his bare hands. As far as anti-heroes go, he’s regularly compared to the likes of The Punisher. This hardcore vigilante is the next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yesterday, Marvel officially released the first proper trailer for the upcoming Moon Knight series, which will be streaming on Disney+ starting March 30, taking over the Wednesday slot from Hawkeye. The series stars Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, alter ego of Moon Knight, who suffers from severe dissociative personality disorder. During his unconscious wanderings, he finds himself in Egypt, where he becomes a mortal conduit for the spirit of Khonsu, transforming him into Moon Knight. Ethan Hawke will also be appearing as a currently unnamed antagonist, apparently leading some manner of cult.

The show is scheduled to run for six episodes. What role Moon Knight will have in the greater scope of the MCU, if any, has not yet been revealed, though as far as the comics go, he’s teamed up a few times with the likes of Spider-Man and The Punisher.
