Disney Passholders Claim They Were Wrongly Charged While Parks Were Closed

Disney accidentally billed Annual Passholders for several months, and they’re not happy.

Disney has issued a statement in an email to Walt Disney World Resort Annual Passholders about the “confusion and frustration” surrounding multiple incorrect charges that have been applied to Passholders’ accounts.

The email statement said that “[T]he monthly payment program had authorization holds incorrectly applied to their accounts on July 3rd.” Disney is currently working to reverse the charges and the changes should be reflected in Passholder bank or credit card accounts “over the next couple of days.”

When many Disney Passholders found that multiple months of payments had gone through, they took to social media to voice their concerns and anger over the issue. Some claim that it was careless of Disney to incorrectly charge APs hundreds of dollars, especially when the parks are still closed and so many people are currently without work due to the pandemic.

The email statement and apology came three days after Disney reportedly admitted to the payment error.

The Walt Disney World theme parks are set to open for Annual Passholder previews this Thursday and Friday, July 9 and 10. Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom will officially reopen on July 11, and EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios will officially reopen on July 15.
