Vegetarians and vegans rejoice! The trend of fast-food and fast-casual restaurants adopting new meatless options into their restaurants is far from over, as Subway became the latest chain to announce a collaboration with famed meat-sub Beyond Meat. The sandwich shop joins other names in major chains, from a drive-thru experience at Carls Jr. to sit-down dining at The Cheesecake Factory in their efforts to provide tasty options for all customers.

Following the path left by Chipotle in 2014, the demand for meat-free options is being met by two major producers, Beyond Meat and The Impossible Burger, as they roll out options for burger patties, chicken, and ground meat. Alongside them, many restaurants are taking interest in dairy-free options as well, such as Daiya and Follow Your Heart.

The trend impacts more than just devout vegans but is welcoming to those curious about how to incorporate more plant-based options into their daily decisions. Whether people are opting for plant-based options for health, environmental, or economic reasons, the inclusion of these options is a celebration of all customers.

As a veggie-lover myself, I can’t wait to get my hands on the plant-based rendition of the classic meatball sub.
