Wendy’s Planning To Bring Breakfast Nationwide In 2020

Wendy’s will join the trend of offering a breakfast menu

Fast food lovers will have a new breakfast option, thanks to Wendy’s. The fast-food chain announced, on Monday, that they will be re-launching its breakfast menu and bringing it nationwide by 2020.

The food chain plans to hire about 20,000 US employees for the initiative, the company said Monday. The new venture is a big move for Wendy’s as more people prepare breakfast at home than any other meal, and the morning remains the only growth market for the fast-food industry, according to research group NPD.

Currently, Wendy’s offers breakfast, including a bacon sandwich and a honey butter chicken biscuit, at about 300 locations. However, the nationwide launch “provides incredible growth opportunities,” said Todd Penegor, the company’s president and CEO, in a statement.

The company expects to spend about $20 million to serve breakfast throughout the country and is lowering its 2019 financial outlook. Shares fell 8% in pre-market trading on Tuesday. With its new breakfast launch, Wendy’s will also be introducing new breakfast items.

The “Breakfast Baconator” will consist of an egg, several slices of bacon, a sausage patty, two slices of American cheese and a dollop of hollandaise sauce. The fast-food chain will also have the “Frosty-ccino.” Which is a Frosty milkshake infused with cold brew coffee? It comes in two flavors: vanilla and chocolate.
